E3 2022 is cancelled — Watch these shows instead

This year’s E3 games showcase might have been cancelled, but that doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to get your fill of upcoming video game goodness in 2022.

Here are the E3 alternatives you should add to your calendar to ensure you don’t miss anything.

World of Warcraft Expansion Reveal — 19 April

Blizzard will reveal all the details about the popular MMO’s latest expansion at 18:00 on 19 April.

According to leaks by data miners, the expansion will be called Dragonflight.

The Mini Indie Showcase: Pax East Edition — 20 April

The Mini Indie Showcase will broadcast on Wednesday, 20 April — the day before PAX East 2022 is set to go live.

The showcase will highlight over a dozen upcoming indie games and feature detailed post-show discussions.

Meta Quest Gaming Showcase — 20 April

The Meta Quest Gaming Showcase is Facebook’s rebranded version of the Oculus Gaming Showcase and will stream at 19:00 on 20 April via Twitch and YouTube.

This showcase is all about showing new VR titles, and according to Meta, you can expect “gameplay first-looks, updates on games coming in the next year, and a whole lot of surprises.”

Summer Game Fest — 9 June

Summer Game Fest is Geoff Keighley’s E3 replacement show and will take place across June.

Summer Games Fest 2022 will start with Geoff Keighley’s Kickoff Live event. Last year’s Kickoff revealed Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, the first look at Elden Ring, and the worldwide version of Lost Ark.

Many major publishers in the video game industry will make appearances, including 2K, Bandai Namco, Blizzard, Gearbox Publishing, Netflix, PlayStation, Square Enix, and many more.

Day of the Devs — June

Day of the Devs is the annual indie gaming showcase from Double Fine and iam8bit that will form part of Summer Game Fest.

This year’s Day of the Devs will mark the 10th anniversary of the event, with past showcases featuring games like Axiom Verge and Ghostrunner.

THQ Nordic Digital Showcase — 12 August

THQ’s Nordic Digital Showcase will stream at 21:00 on 12 August via Twitch and YouTube.

You can expect to see updates on Outcast 2 – A New Beginning and Jagged Alliance 3, as well as “loads of announcements and first-looks.”

Gamescom Opening Night Live — 24 August

Gamescom Opening Night Live is the official kickoff show for the live Gamescom show, which will take place in Cologne, Germany.

Last year’s event revealed the Saints Row reboot, Halo Infinite’s release date, and the first look at Call of Duty: Vanguard’s gameplay.
