Netflix, the video streaming juggernaut of the industry, has changed their stance on ad-free content.

During its Q1 2022 earnings interview, COO Greg Peters indicated that adding advertising to the platform was an “exciting opportunity”.

Netflix isn’t alone in this either, as Disney announced an Ad-supported subscription package would be coming in late 2022.

This announcement comes after Netflix share prices dropped – primarily because the company announced that it has already lost 200,000 subscribers since the beginning of the year and expects to lose another 2 million in the second quarter.

Netflix currently offers four different subscription plans ranging from R49 to R199 per month, supporting different maximum resolutions and user limits.

Netflix has not explained how adding commercials would impact the current subscription plans.
