Crytek has announced that Mattias Engström, Hitman 3’s game director, has left his position at IO Interactive to lead development on the upcoming Crysis 4 title.
Since Crysis has always been known for its sandbox first-person shooter gameplay, Engström’s experience with Hitman 3 makes him an excellent fit.

Mattias is unlikely to be the only new hire, as Crytek’s website shows multiple open positions to work on Crysis 4’s development.
Some of the positions include an art director, character artist, senior environment character artist, and audio designer, indicating that the new title is still at the start of its development phase.
Crysis 4’s development was confirmed by Crytek on 26 January 2022, along with a cryptic teaser trailer that leaves a lot to the imagination.
In a blog post accompanying the trailer, Crytek CEO Avni Yerli promised fans that Crysis 4’s development team will release more development updates and that the upcoming sequel would be a “truly next-gen shooter.”
