The Stanley Parable developers call out achievement cheaters with Sekiro meme

10 May 2022

Crows Crows Crows has called out players who cheated to acquire one of the achievements for The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe with a Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice meme.

The original Stanley Parable had an achievement called Go Outside, which required you not to play the game for five years and then start it up.

The Ultra Deluxe edition has now added an achievement called Super Go Outside, which increased the required period to ten years. Therefore, the earliest time the achievement could be acquired fairly would be 2032.

However, 3% of players have been setting the clocks of their PCs and Consoles forward ten years to unlock the achievement immediately. Crows Crows Crows has expressed its disappointment.

The comment references an incident where a reviewer used cheats to beat the extremely difficult final boss of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and revealed they were unashamed of doing so.

A FromSoftware fan responded with the now-legendary quote:

“You cheated not only the game but yourself. You didn’t grow. You didn’t improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It’s sad that you don’t know the difference.”
