If you’re looking for a free-to-play battle royale that requires only 900MB of available storage and can run on literally any computer, then Super Animal Royale is the perfect game for you.
At its core, Super Animal Royale is a game that follows the basic rules of any standard battle royale.
The game has a bunch of players land on a map where they must loot areas for various tiered weapons that they’ll use to kill other players to be the last man standing — or in this case, last animal standing.
However, the game is a little more interesting than this blanket description.
Super Animal Royale is a top-down 2D battle royale where 64 murderous animals fight tooth, claw, and machine-gun across an abandoned safari park.
Now, you might say that this doesn’t sound all that interesting, and at first glance, the visuals aren’t much to rave about either — but you’ll be pleasantly surprised at how much you’ll want to continue playing once you’ve played a couple of rounds.
You’ll discover that the map is a beautifully illustrated 2D island that incorporates various animal habitats, including bamboo forests, open savannas, stables, and ice lands.
I should also mention that the animals you play as are not your average run-of-the-mill critters either, but rather genetically modified human animals that were created in the Super Animal World research lab found on the island.
As a result of these experiments, the game gives you the option to choose between a whopping 254 unique super animal creations — which are essentially your player’s “skin”.
These animals can be unlocked by collecting various animal DNA, along with super serum, during any given match.
When the match has ended, you can go to the ‘research lab’ tab in the main menu, where you can combine the DNA and serum to create new super animals.
The customisation aspect of the game will keep you busy for hours, as the hundreds of animal breeds also come with thousands of cosmetic items, weapons, outfits, and much more.
Additionally, you can enjoy an endless stampede of new content, including seasonal outfits, animals, and weapons to collect.
This allows you to build your own unique super animal that will be remembered by others as you gun them down, sending them back to the lobby one by one.
If that isn’t enough, the game also gives you the option of flattening your foes while rolling dirty in a hamster ball or mounting a giant emu and pecking your way to the promised land.
Super Animal Royale is a low-stakes, casual battle royal that is bound to kill more than a couple of hours when you have nothing better to do.
With its low system requirements and simple mechanics, it’s the perfect game for you to enjoy with your friends and family.
The game is available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.
