Escape from Tarkov developer Battlestate Games has announced that its highly anticipated arena mode is coming soon as a standalone game.
The new spin-off is called Escape from Tarkov Arena and will feature PvP and PvE “gladiatorial” combat in various arenas throughout the city of Tarkov.
“Escape from Tarkov Arena is a standalone game project — a session-based multiplayer first-person shooter for PC with all the known and beloved hardcore game mechanics of Escape from Tarkov,” said Battlestate Games.
The Deathmatch-type game will also feature a progression system with weapon and gear unlocks, and current owners of Escape from Tarkov will be able to play as their main profile characters.
Battlestate Games has promised players who own both Escape from Tarkov and its latest Edge of Darkness DLC pack access to Arena at no additional cost.
For owners of other Escape from Tarkov editions, Arena will be offered as a paid DLC, while gamers that have not purchased the title at all will have the option of purchasing Escape from Tarkov Arena as a standalone game.
Battlestate hasn’t said how much Escape from Tarkov Arena will cost if purchased as a DLC or a standalone game.
While a release window for the project is still unknown, closed beta testing for Arena is scheduled to start in the coming months.
