Bethesda recently announced a pre-order incentive for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – a high-quality map of the Skyrim region. The Elder Scrolls games take place on the fantasy world of Nirn, in the continent of Tamriel, a large landmass divided into nine provinces, of which Skyrim is one of the most northerly regions.
Making real maps of the fantasy worlds is an Elder Scrolls tradition. Todd Howard, Game Director and Executive Producer for Bethesda Game Studios, once said on a Morrowind blog post: “There’s something about having a physical object in your hands that feels like it’s part of this other world, that you are that person in the game, finding your way among the hills.”

Those who preorder Skyrim will automatically receive a premium quality world map with their copy of the game at no extra cost. The map is constructed from a high-grade material that has a feel similar to burlap. There will be a regular paper map included in all copies of the game.
Bethesda initially indicated that the preorder incentive Skyrim map would only be available in US and EU territories, but MyGaming has confirmed that this incentive will be making its way to South African shores.
A representative from Ster Kinekor, the local distributor of Bethesda games, confirmed that South Africa will be included in the Skyrim pre-order campaign. Pricing information on the various platform versions of the game are yet to be finalised.
