European Games Award opens for people’s choice voting

The European Games Award are the first awards exclusively for European video and computer game developers. Awards voting is now open to the public for the people’s choice categories. Voting appears to be open to all, regardless of region. Registration linked an e-mail address is required to place votes.

“The European Games Award wants to demonstrate how many important games have been developed in Europe, and it wants to honour the work of the developers, publishers and all those involved in the production and marketing of games,” state the organisers.

There are 23 categories to work through, but the interface is well designed and this should take more than five to ten minutes. The choices range from Best overall European game and best European developer to best indie, and even best social networking game. The contestants in each category range from indie super hits such as Magicka and Minecraft, to AAA mammoths such as The Witcher 2 and Crysis 2.

The  European Games Award 2011 will take place on 13 Sugust 2011, on the Pure Liner, an event ship, which will leave Niehler Harbor in Cologne and will sail along the Rhine during the award ceremony.
