BioShock Infinite’s protagonist has a face

7 July 2011

BioShock’s protagonist had no face. BioShock 2’s protagonist was a Big Daddy, so technically he didn’t have a face either, just a big old brass-n-glass diving helmet*. BioShock Infinite is boldly bucking this trend of protagonist facelessness, however, as the digital version of EGM has unmasked former Pinkerton Agent Booker DeWitt. And he might have gotten away with it if it weren’t for those meddling Little Sisters. Or Irrational Games’ art team, anyway.

He has the crazy-eyes, and if you look really quickly, he seems to be wearing a Nazi uniform. Maybe that’s just me.

Here’s a cool thing, though. As GamesRadar points out (and BioShock Infinite creator Ken Levine has confirmed), the cover art is a homage to Uncanny X-Men #141, with DeWitt standing in Wolverine’s place.

BioShock Infinite is currently in development for PC, PS3, and Xbox, and due to launch sometime next year.
