New Skyrim details emerge

20 July 2011

A list of brand new The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim details have emerged after being printed in the French version of gaming magazine PSM3.

New details:

–    Archers will be able to hold their breath to increase accuracy.
–    Weather effects will have gameplay implications.
–    Players will be able to mine, chop wood, forge armour and weapons and cook.
–    Water movement will be affected by wind.
–    Equipment will have to be repaired when it is damaged.
–    The game will take place against the backdrop of a civil war sparked by the death of the king of Skyrim.
–    It will not be possible to get all the game’s perks, but it will be possible to level your perks up to 100.
–    Each settlement will attempt to portray a different “feel”.
–    Dragon encounters will not be scripted.
–    It will be possible to break into NPC houses, or stalk NPCs.
–    Players will not be able to block in combat if one of their hands has equipped a spell.
–    There will be “ice traps” which will freeze enemies that walk over them.
–    The Circle of Protection spell well push enemies away from the player.
–    The Fury spell will make enemies attack each other.
–    The Detect Life spell will reveal life in the player’s vicinity.

Skyrim is probably the most exciting RPG of 2011, and it is being released on 11 November, 2011, for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Although the game’s lead development platform is console, the PC version will have full mod support, as well as a high-resolution texture pack and a unique interface.

Sadly, there will be no pre-release demo for the game, with Bethesda claiming that a short snippet of gameplay would not do the game justice.
