You can’t see it behind their funny masks, but the inhabitants of From Dust’s sand-blown, tsunami-menaced world are all smiles today, with the game debuting in the Xbox LIVE Arcade’s top slot. I guess those guys deserved something nice like this after that nasty business with the volcano.
On top of being on top, it turns out the game has also broken launch day sales for Ubisoft on the XBLA platform. Pretty significantly too, or “approximately 45 percent higher than Ubisoft’s previous best-selling XBLA release,” according to the publisher.
They wouldn’t say what that “previous best-selling XBLA release” actually was, but other big titles from Ubisoft include Beyond Good & Evil HD, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My money’s on Beyond Good & Evil HD.
“From Dust is another great example of Ubisoft’s ongoing commitment to bring original intellectual properties and brands to the digital space,” Chris Early, vice prez of digital publishing, said in the obligatory press release.
“Ubisoft is a creative company dedicated to delivering innovative and engaging content for all types of players – whether it’s a big retail game or a short format digital title such as From Dust.”
From Dust will be launching for PC on 17 August. A PSN version is still in the pipe.
