According to a post on the official forums which has now mysteeeeeriously vanished (although Google Cache’s forensics department can help out there), THQ’s incoming Warhammer 40K: Space Marine will be releasing without any co-op features, and adding these in “30 days give or take after launch” instead.
The post – attributed to THQ community manager Mathew “THQSledgehammer” Everett – cites the need to “polish up the co-op aspect of Space Marine” as the reason for the delay. It also suggests that the co-op feature is available free only with new copies of the game, and a premium add-on for secondhand buyers.
While THQ has not officially confirmed or denied any of this, they have released a statement saying only that, “Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine will have co-op and we look forward to announcing more details later this month.”
In the meantime, we can probably assume that Mathew Everett has an important appointment with HR.
Warhammer 40K: Space Marine launches 9 September, with or without co-op.
