Ridley Scott signs onto Call of Duty Elite team

10 August 2011

Well, this is kind of unexpected. Apparently Activision has hired Ridley Scott to produce some kind of “exclusive episodic entertainment” for their coming-soon Call of Duty Elite online subscription service. If you don’t know why that’s a big deal, you obviously know NOTHING about Aliens, perhaps more commonly known as the best science fiction movie ever made.

Speaking at the 13th Annual Pacific Crest Global Technology Leadership Forum in Vail, Colorado, the publisher’s CEO Eric Hirshberg announced they’re busy with “exclusive episodic entertainment built just for the Call of Duty community. We are working with the likes of Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, Ben Silverman, and Ridley and Tony Scott to create this content.

“Just like any other passion that people spend a lot of their free time doing, Call of Duty players share a common language and a common experience and we think we can create some entertainment content that they will love and talk about and share.”

So what exactly is this “exclusive episodic entertainment” going to be? Activision’s not saying anything more for the moment, but if it’s a live action short starring Xenomorphs destroying nuclear submarines, I’m in.
