It was really only a matter of time until Google+ started adding games, and that time is now.
“Today we’re adding games to Google+,” senior vice president of engineering Vic Gundotra writes on the Google blog. “With the Google+ project, we want to bring the nuance and richness of real-life sharing to the web. But sharing is about much more than just conversations. The experiences we have together are just as important to our relationships.
“We want to make playing games online just as fun, and just as meaningful, as playing in real life.”
He also adds, significantly, that “If you’re not interested in games, it’s easy to ignore them. Your stream will remain focused on conversations with the people you care about.” Because honestly, there’s nothing much worse than those stupid Mafia Wars notifications stuffing up your news feed.
Google is currently rolling the service out to users, with just a few titles currently featured, including Angry Birds, Dragon Age Legends, Bejeweled Blitz, Zynga Poker, Diamond Dash, and some others.
