Bethesda confirms gay marriage in Skyrim

26 August 2011

The lands of Skyrim may be in the midst of a terrible civil war, but nothing will get in the way of one Nord man’s true love for his anthropomorphic kitty-cat companion, Scott.

Aaaaaalways

I wanna be with you

And slay dragons with you

And live in harmony, harmony, oh looove

The news comes by way of Bethesda’s Pete Hines, who confirmed that both straight and gay marriages will feature in the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

“Not hush hush, just not making a huge deal out of it. You can marry anyone,” he posted on Twitter in response to queries about it, adding later that “… Should clarify. Not any NPC, just mean any male or female. Doesn’t matter what you’re playing.”

The announcement will doubtless cause a ragestorm of controversy among people who think they get to decide what goes in what on behalf of everybody else, but it’s not like their stupid opinions matter. Besides, those same guys will totally appreciate the girl-on-girl opportunities, I’m sure. Double standards are so much fun.
