Xbox 3D support due “in the coming days”

31 August 2011

In news that will doubtless thrill people who bought those really expensive 3D-capable televisions, Microsoft is apparently prepping to launch an update for the Xbox 360 that will enable stereoscopic 3D for “games and experiences” that support it.

That’s according to a report over on MSXbox-World, which claims that the update “will be available via the latest batch of games and most likely via Xbox Live in the coming days”. There’s no official confirmation from Microsoft as yet, but they’ve got images and everything over there, so it’s probably legit.

It’s not really shocking either, considering that Xbox exclusives such as Gears of War 3 and Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition both feature 3D support, and are due out pretty soon.

Microsoft has previously been rather indifferent about the whole newfangled three-dee thing, but anything the PS3 can do, the Xbox can do too. Even if it’s taken them a year to catch up.

Proof?
