Call of Duty Elite pricing revealed

5 September 2011

Activision revealed over the weekend that its upcoming Call of Duty Elite service will have a subscription option that will cost players £34.99 (R400) per year.

This subscription fee will gain subscribers access to every piece of DLC released for the game during the time they are subscribed, and Activision has confirmed that there will be no fewer than 20 add-ons released for the game, and that they will never be released more than one month apart from each other. These releases won’t just be new maps either, and Activision is promising new game modes and spec ops missions.

Subscribers will also be eligible to compete in online competitions where they can win virtual items, as well as prizes like iPads and Jeeps. Of course these will most probably be co-ordinated by regions, and it’s unlikely that there will be many Jeeps up for grabs for South African gamers.

Premium  subscribers will also have access to eight times as much online storage capacity for uploading HD video clips of their online gaming sessions, which will be limited to up to four minutes of gameplay time. Not only will they be able to store more, but premium subscribers will have access to expert strategy and analysis clips that will be presented by the best players in the world.

There will also be episodic video content available to premium subscribers, with various shows currently in production and big names like Tony Scott and Ridley Scott involved. An exclusive comedy series called ‘Noob Tube’ featuring Arrested Development stars Jason Batemen and Will Arnett is also being created for Elite subscribers.

It’s also worth noting that Modern Warfare 3’s Hardened Edition will include a one year subscription to the Call of Duty Elite service, which will launch alongside Modern Warfare 3 on 8 November 2011.
