You can be a vampire in Skyrim

12 September 2011

In news that will doubtless appeal to the series’ previously untapped Twilight market demographic, Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed in a recent interview with G4TV that players can become vampires in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

According to Howard, you can be exposed to whatever it is that makes vampires into vampires while doing your hero thing around the lands of Skyrim, and if left untreated, you’ll find yourself increasingly inclined to wear vintage Sisters of Mercy t-shirts and quote bits of Bram Stoker’s Dracula (I’m extrapolating here).

“That’s a whole other mode of playing the game,” explained Howard. “There are various levels of being a vampire, the sun will affect you more the more powerful you get, and you can sort of control your vampirism by feeding on people when they’re sleeping.”

So you’re forced to move about at night and prey upon the living in order to survive? Sounds like a regular day in my life.
