DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson, speaking at the FNAC meeting in Paris, said that the Battlefield 3 public beta is ready to roll on PC, and that DICE is just waiting for Sony and Microsoft to give the go ahead before they can launch the beta simultaneously on all platforms.
In his exact (translated) words, DICE is waiting for Microsoft and Sony to “accelerate preparations”.
Microsoft and Sony are said to usually take about 2-3 weeks to approve content, basically ensuring that it is stable and can run without causing any damage to the consoles.
Having said that, there is no indication of when DICE submitted the content for approval, so the beta may still make its planned September launch.
In the meantime, Battlefield 3 is scheduled to be released on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in just over a month (28 Octboer 2011).
