The organisers of the upcoming IndieCade International Festival of Independent Games has announced its big list of finalists, and Desktop Dungeons – developed right here in Cape Town, South Africa, by QCF Design – has totally made the cut. I’m also charging extra for typing “local is lekker”.
The game made it through a submission gauntlet of 446 entrants, and into the final 36.
The next round is a battle to the death, using only unhandled exception errors and fireballs.
“Each year, we present ten awards that honour excellence of teams and individuals across the wide range of creative disciplines required to create games, as well as the prestigious Jury Award, selected for its overall excellence and potential for impact in the game industry,” said IndieCade’s Stephanie Barish.
“But all the finalists stand out, and with previous years as a guide, they’re all going places.”
