In a recent interview, voice actor and director, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, revealed Konami’s wishes to re-do the character voices for the upcoming Silent Hill HD Collection – a move that upset Silent Hill fans greatly.
“We had to re-voice all the characters because the original guy who played James [from Silent Hill 2] asked for royalties that weren’t in his contract”
That “original guy” is Guy Cihi.
In a rare twist, however, Cihi waivered any and all rights to Konami in an open letter on Facebook, saying that he actually wants a new generation of Silent Hill fans to enjoy the games as they were originally conceived, without all this legal nonsense.
What a Guy.
This picture popped up on NeoGAF showing Cihi and Dave Schaufele (the voice actor of Eddie) signing waivers, with other voice actors said to follow.

That means the only thing preventing the Silent Hill HD Collection from being true to its original forms is the huge corporate machine hating you.
The compilation is expected to be released in early 2012 for Playstaion 3 and Xbox 360 and features Silent Hill 2 (including the extra Restless Dreams scenario) and Silent Hill 3.
