Star Wars: Galaxies MMO to go out with an epic battle for supremacy

7 October 2011

What better way to close an MMO than an epic battle for interstellar supremacy, with the forces of good, evil, and everything in between hurling themselves at one another in an orgy of blood, guts, and blasters?

Well, exactly. Well, kind of.

Politics are important too, so it’s a bit of a numbers game, as the community staff over on the Star Wars: Galaxies official forums explain.

“The war will be decided by points earned in the planetary control system. Whoever controls the galaxy at the end will win the war.”

Or, basically, each region in the game is assigned a value relative to its strategic importance, and points earned in each region are determined relative to that value.

So if the Imperial war effort dusts those Rebel scum 60% to 40% in a territory worth only 5% of the galaxy, that works out to just 3% and 2% on the galactic scale.

Star Wars: Galaxies closes 15 December, so may the Force be with you, and all that.

Also, I hope the Empire wins because their uniforms are way snazzier.
