What we’re playing this weekend (7 – 9 October 2011)

I decided to help a good cause and get my indie on (and I’m a sucker for awesome deals) by purchasing the Humble Indie Bundle. Trauma was creepy but short, and Frozen Synapse looks like it’s going to take a long time and a lot of mental energy (though still fun). The real gem for me however, has been Trine, a surprisingly awesome platform RPG with sweet gameplay, a cool story and tight controls. So aside from my usual staples, it’s going to be a whole load of indie goodness.

This weekend is my birthday weekend (please send all well-wishes – i.e. money – to the usual address, thanks); so to celebrate, I’m locking myself away in my room and hitting Gears of War 3 hard before I get dragged out to do something social. I invited the Dalai Lama over for a bit of Horde 2.0, but he made some lame excuse about not getting a Visa in time :<

I am so sick of racing games! There I said it. I guess I’m all raced out after many long nights in Trackmania Nations and F1 2011. Both kept pulling me back in for more. I’ll probably go through my Steam games collection and attempt to play some of the titles I bought on special, which include Hexen, Brothers in Arms and Wolfenstein 3D.

Resident Evil 4 HD. Apparently no matter how many times I “accidentally” shoot Ashley, she keeps nagging me to hurry up and rescue her. Some girls just cannot take a hint, even when it’s a $30 000, 40mm rocket in the face.

I’m a bad, bad, bad gaming journalist, with far too many reviews piling up on my desk. I’ll be punishing myself by trying to not suck at Dark Souls. I’ve barely started the introductory level and I’ve died five times. This game is living up to its brutal reputation – which is why I must defeat it!
