Nintendo has announced that it will be releasing the redesigned Wii console in the UK on 4 November.
Nintendo is calling it the Wii Family Edition, and the bundle includes Wii Sports and last year’s mini-game compilation Wii Party.
We are still awaiting confirmation from local Nintendo distributor Core Gaming on when the product will hit SA retail. We do however have a recommended retail price.
The new bundle carries the current Wii bundle’s recommended retail price of R1,599.
It includes a newly configured Wii console in white – the reconfigured Wii console has been designed to sit horizontally and does not feature backwards compatibility with Game Cube. The console comes with a Wii Remote Plus controller and a Nunchuk.
The bundle includes Wii Sports and Wii Party. Wii Party boasts more than 80 group-play mini-games, with support for up to four Wii Remote controllers. Wii Sports offers five sports games using motion control: Tennis; Baseball; Golf; Bowling; and Boxing.
Nintendo has also revealed a new Wii Fit Plus pack which will launch a few days earlier on 2 November.
The Wii Fit Plus pack will include a black Balance Board and a copy of Wii Fit Plus. An additional bundle that includes an original black Wii will also be available.
Then of course there is the new Blue Wii bundle which will hit retail shelves on 18 November in conjunction with the launch of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympics.
