The launch trailer for Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception shows us many things.
Gun fights, face punching, dramatic dialogue, horses, deserts and the lusciously seductive voice of Claudia Black .
Most of all, it shows us that there is absolutely no reason for Hollywood to pursue making an Uncharted movie – because NaughtyDog look like they’ve done a bang-up job turning Nathan Drake’s next adventure into a cinematic marvel.
You could say that Drake is quite an unlucky guy, having been stranded on a remote island, thrown off a cliff in a train and now finding himself dragging his feet through the sand in the middle of a blazing desert – not to mention having everyone in these places trying to kill him.
But come on, how lucky must he be to unearth not one, not two, but three mythical and mysterious legends in his lifetime?
This time around Nate is tracing the steps of Thomas Edward (T.E.) Lawrence, aka Lawrence of Arabia (you thought it was just a movie, didn’t you), to find a city lost for centuries – buried in the middle of the desert, obviously – dubbed the “Atlantis of the Sands”.
Antagonizing him on his search is a mysterious order headed by Katherine Marlowe – a cold, insidious woman who has a keen, personal interest in Drake and his ancestral ties with Sir Francis Drake.
The game is going to be huge, with the same cinematic quality that made Uncharted 2 so popular being showcased (and then some) in the launch trailer; and with the multiplayer features we’ve already covered before.
This is definitely one title we can’t wait for. Lucky for us – we won’t have to wait much longer.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is trekking across the deserts to get to us on 2 November 2011 – exclusively on PS3.
