Telkom has confirmed that a failure at their exchange in Pretoria Central has had an impact on some customers in the city and some surrounding areas.
“While all callers are able to make and receive calls within the 012 dialling area, some are not be able to make calls to or receive calls from outside this area,” Telkom said in a statement issued on Friday (21 October 2011).
Telkom said that it is working with its technology supplier to identify and rectify the fault, and will keep the public informed through regular updates.
Telkom has said that only voice calling is affected and there are no issues with data services.
“Telkom apologises for the inconvenience this technical failure has caused our customers and assures them that we are doing everything possible to restore services as soon as possible,” the statement said.
