Over the past few days a rumour has been circulating that Avalanche Studios is currently working on Just Cause 3 and that the game will be released next year.
The studio has released and official statement on the matter, squashing the rumour outright.
“It’s just a rumour and we’re not releasing any game in 2012,” Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg told Eurogamer.
The original rumour has been traced back to Xbox World Magazine, who cited “spies” as their source when they reported that Just Cause 3 was planned for release next year.
Avalanche has stated that they are working on two “huge titles”, both of which are planned for release in 2013. The developer has not confirmed that Just Cause 3 is one of them, although it seems likely that this is the case, seeing as that Just Cause 2 received generally positive reviews and did relatively well at retail.
