Battlefield 3 is big business

28 October 2011

Battlefield 3 might be off to a bit of a stop-start for gamers, but it’s going big for EA.

In an investor call last night, EA commander in chief, John Riccitiello, confirmed that the publisher has “shipped 10 million units to retail and we are already receiving reorders.”

Of course, “shipped” isn’t quite the same thing as “sold”, or at least not yet, but it’s still kind of nice to imagine 10 million game boxes stacked on top of one another in a funny shape, like a giant bunny.

That’s how I always think of it, anyway.

The game launched in the States on Tuesday, and everywhere else today.

“The results have been tremendous, thanks to the superb quality of the title produced by our DICE Studio in Stockholm, and the world-class marketing executed by our teams globally,” he added.

In related news today: Battlefield 3, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 3, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 3.
