Funcom creative director Ragnar Tørnquist has confirmed that the company is working on an iPhone version of their cult point ‘n’ clicker, The Longest Journey, in an interview with VideoGamer.com.
No further details about launch dates or pricing are given, although I’d imagine that – surely! – an iPad version is in development too. It just seems silly not to, and besides, pixel-hunting on the itty-bitty iPhone screen is going to be… challenging. Maybe that’s the point.
The Longest Journey originally launched on PC in 1999, to tremendous critical acclaim, and got itself a sequel, Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, in 2006.
Now let’s see some of those classic Sierra and LucasArts adventure games ported to iDevices – I’ll take just about any excuse to replay the Space Quest series or Day of the Tentacle. Or Quest for Glory. Or Maniac Mansion. Or King’s Quest. Or Monkey Island. Even Gold Rush*.
Hey, guys? Make it happen.
*Actually, not Gold Rush. That game was crap.
