Gamers discover, abuse invincibility glitch in Battlefield 3

31 October 2011

Oh, it’s happened to you already, I’m sure.

There’s that one guy, probably a sniper, over on the edges of Caspian Border or Grand Bazaar, who just won’t die no matter how many bullets hit him in the face.

That’s right, boys and girls. Battlefield 3’s been out less than a week, and unscrupulous love-plums have already worked out how to make themselves almost completely invincible and spoil the game for everybody else.

A bit of deep-cover investigative journalism turned up a how-to, and honestly, I’ve no idea how these people even figure this stuff out. It’s a confirmed glitch for Xbox and PS3 for the moment, but given the method, it’s more than likely also exploitable on PC.

Complaints are turning up over on the official forums, with the suggested interim “fix” among gamers being to use heavy explosives or knife kills on cheaters, which may or may not work.

In the meantime, QQ.

While DICE is patching that up, they might also want to reconsider that whole infinite mortar ammo thing too.

Defenders lurking in the bushes 500 metres away, spamming mortars over the M-COM station is pretty much the exact opposite of fun.

You’re not alone, went 20-2 after it happened to me. No idea how, but it was funny as hell watching 8 guys with full clips run away from me, one man with a knife! I thought it had something to do with reviving and being revived. What made me laugh the most is that those who get stabbed by me were furious – coz I know if it happened the other way round they would have been laughing just as much as me!
