Valve has apparently put the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta on a temporary hold, according to a report over on Eurogamer.
The decision was made on the basis of some constructive criticism from pro Counter-Strike players who were invited to take the game for a spin ahead of the beta, which was originally scheduled to go live last month.
“They gave us a lot of feedback on things we should get in the game before we release it, otherwise we’re going to be getting a lot of bug reports or a lot of feedback and it would just be redundant,” said Valve’s Chet Faliszek.
“There’s going to be things we’re going to release it with knowing we need to add more, to do more. But just knowing there’s some feel and some just operating the game issues that need to be resolved first. We want to get those done first,” said Faliszek, apparently forgetting how to speak English mid-sentence.
Although no new date has been set, Faliszek confirmed that, starting out, 10,000 players would be invited to participate in the beta, and thereafter Valve would “grow it in steps as we get a test server infrastructure and scalability”.
The full game is tentatively expected to launch sometime around the beginning of 2012.
