It’s 100% official – Minecraft is a real game now, and just in time for its Friday launch date. It’s all coming together so nicely.
Markus “Notch” Persson shared the happy news over Twitter with a simple, classic “So, yes, Minecraft has gone gold. :D”.
Of course “going gold” is really just a formality for a game that’s been in an open beta for two years already. In fact, the current version of the game is apparently so close to the final version that Notch suggests reviewers consider it the review version.
“There might be VERY minor tweaks,” Notch added.
So that basically means it’s time for those reviewers to dismantle their gigantic, lava-belching genital monuments and play the game properly, whatever that really means. A moment of silence for the gigantic, lava-belching genital monuments, please.
The game will be released alongside the first ever, sold-out MineCon in Las Vegas, happening all weekend.
