As expected, Uncharted 3 was critically acclaimed when it was released just a few weeks ago. It was praised for its cinematic narrative, compelling gameplay and high production values.
However, one problem which resonated with a number of gamers was the controls, specifically its contentious aiming issues.
Naughty Dog has confirmed that it is working on a patch which will rectify this problem. There is no release date on the patch, but when it is eventually released it will give gamers the option to select between Uncharted 3’s current aiming system and a system more similar to that used in Uncharted 2.
The developer invited gamers to its Santa Monic studio earlier this month to give feedback on the control scheme. “We showed them a before and after without telling them which one was changed to see how they liked these alternate settings that our programmer had come up with,” said Naughty Dog community manager Arne Meyer.
“As part of that process, we iterated on what the feedback was and we were making changes on the fly, and changing different things from what we originally changed to get the right feel for the aiming.”
