Minecraft user statistics

23 November 2011

Try guess how many logins Minecraft gets each month. C’mon, guess.

If you guessed 241,920,000 then you’re flippin’ amazing, because that’s roughly how many times people log in to play Minecraft on a monthly basis.

To put it in perspective, that’s 336,000 logins per hour, which is a little more graspable. Furthermore, when Minecraft 1.0 officially launched last Friday it saw 4,000 logins each second.

The Minecraft launcher has downloaded a whopping 2 billion files. Roughly 11,000 skin downloads occur every second in-game.

So far 4 million people have purchased Minecraft, making the game easily one of the most commercially successful indie projects of all time, and making Mojang and Minecraft mastermind Markus ‘Notch’ Persson very rich.

But it’s not all money and user numbers, Minecraft has also boasts a 97/100 Metacritic score so far, with Eurogamer, 1UP and Gamepro giving it perfect scores. Currently Minecraft has the highest Metacritic score of 2011, but this may come down a bit as more reviews are posted.
