This weekend I’m going to stare at the pile of games I just bought with all the specials going on, and cry because I’m not entirely sure when I’ll actually get to play them. Luckily it’s almost the end of the year, so it’s almost time to make the new year’s resolution to be more prudish and careful with my mon-OH MY GAWSH ANOTHER GAME SALE JUST STARTED UP I HAVE TO GO, KBYE.

This weekend I’m continuing my epic playthrough of Saints Row: The Third. I was never a fan of where the GTA series went post-San Andreas so it’s great to see a sandboxer that’s less about the seriousness and more about clubbing people in mascot outfits with giant purple dildos.

I’m also completely enthralled with Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, and while the story is a bit sketchy there’s oodles of fun to be had with cooking up bombs and cruising around the city with the uber-cool hookblade. And who doesn’t find killing pesky beggars therapeutic?

I’ve yet to get over the awesomeness that is Skyrim, so I will be spending my weekend shouting at little children, stealing cabbages, rearranging my bookshelf and hunting for a helmet that doesn’t make my Nord look like a tool. Once the important stuff is done I may or may not kill some dragons, ice trolls and giants.

This weekend I have no hard gaming plans, so I’ll just be playing whatever is awesome. I’m expecting a mixed bag of war games ending in 3, DotA clones, indies, and RPGs that force me to do more walking in an hour than I do in a year’s worth of real life. If I find time I may hit the backlog, but let’s be serious, I’ve been promising myself I’m going to finish those games for so long I can’t even type it with a straight face. So if you’re playing a war game ending in 3 I’ll be the one shooting you in the face, and if DotA/HoN/LoL is more your bag, I’ll be the one explaining why it’s your fault I’m 0-12.

I’m with Chris on the backlog of games issue. I’m just going to stop lying to myself and play Skyrim and Battlefield 3 all weekend long.
