No huge surprises here – although just how Skyrim was awarded the Most Played Game award, yet it was beaten by Batman: Arkham City for Most Played Open-World Game, is a little puzzling.

According to Raptr, Modern Warfare 3 racked up double the amount of playtime as Battlefield 3 in its first month – although the former did outsell EA’s shooter by a significant margin. Also, the results exclude PS3 playtime, and the Call of Duty brand is particularly strong on Xbox 360.

Skyrim was by far the most played RPG of the year, racking up six times as much game time in the first month as its closest competitor, Dragon Age 2.

“2011 is turning out to be a boon for gamers, and our awards highlight how gamers are investing the most amount of their precious time playing every day,” said Dennis Fong, CEO of Raptr. “We want to congratulate all the people involved in creating the hit games that won in their respective categories.”
