In a back and forth series of news and updates, it is now apparently confirmed that GSC has been closed and Stalker 2 has been cancelled.

The story began on UkraNews.com, that claimed the open world shooter was dumped due to CEO Sergei Grigorovich decided to shut down the company. It was reported that at a workforce meeting yesterday he informed everyone that the company was being closed due to “personal reasons”, but no details were given.

It was reported that Grigorovich was unhappy with the progress of the game, and that the Ukrainian police were wanting to take control of the company. This has not been confirmed, but was reported as part of the original break on UkraNews.

This report was followed by a Tweet from the Stalker 2 page, saying, “No we have not closed GSC or cancelled.”

This was  then followed up with a conspicuous deletion of the aforementioned Tweet. While the Internet scrambled to get a response, GSC director Dmitri Bourkovski confirmed that GSC has been closed and Stalker 2 has been cancelled.
