Voice of GlaDOS is back in Dota 2

12 December 2011

There are experiments to run and research to be done, and what better place to start than the murky, sweary place in space-time inhabited by Dota players?

Appropriately enough then, GlaDOS is on the job, or at least her voice is. It’s close enough.

The news comes from actor Ellen McClain herself, who told all on the red carpet at the Spike TV VGAs. She and her husband John Lowrie (who has done voices for a bunch of Valve games, including Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress 2, and Half-Life 2) have both been signed up to do voice work for the game.

“Eric Wolpaw told me in the limo that it has been announced,” she said, “John and I have both done voices for Dota 2. So we’re going to be in there.”

“There are a lot of characters in Dota 2,” added Lowrie. “There are like a hundred characters, so we’ve done quite a few of them.”

Dota 2 is due out sometime next year, although in typical Valve fashion there’s no actual date set yet.
