Remedy ditches GFWL for Alan Wake PC

18 December 2011

It’s been a long wait for PC gamers to get their hands on Alan Wake, with the mouse-and-keyboard tribe getting to wake around Alan’s torch at the same time the controller crew will be playing through the Xbox Live Arcade sequel.

While Microsoft is still publishing Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, the Alan Wake for PC release will be self-published by Remedy. What this means for us PC gamers is that we won’t have to be subjected to the often-maligned Games for Windows Live.

This means the game will be published on everyone’s favourite Steam, and the masses (or minority, rather) did cheer. At least there’s an upside to waiting nearly two years for a PC release.

This news comes directly from Remedy themselves on the official Alan Wake forums, so rest assured you’ll be able to escape the clumsy clutches of GFWL this time.
