Star Wars: The Old Republic dance exploit discovered

4 January 2012

If there’s one thing we’ve all learned from Broadway musicals, it’s that any potentially catastrophic situation can be instantly resolved with an elaborately impromptu dance routine. As it turns out, this is also true in the galaxy far, far away of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Busting a move in this game works both ways, apparently.

According to a report over on Rock Paper Shotgun, using the  command “/getdown” will initiate player dance protocols and interrupt any incoming enemy attacks, effectively rendering the player invincible. That’s the power of dance, everybody. It’s like a magic shield from all the trials and tribulations of human existence, and laser guns.

Nobody tried this in the beta? Seriously? I’m pretty sure it’s the first thing I’d have tried, because I can’t dance in real life and must experience my broken ballerina dreams vicariously.

No word yet on any players spontaneously transforming into black swans, but this one’s probably going to get patched out pretty quickly. So dance, dance like there’s no tomorrow because there might not be one.
