Free Japanese dating sim hits a new level of bizarre

4 January 2012

Aaaaaand in this week’s episode of It Came From Japan, we’ve got Katawa Shoujo, an erotic dating sim about girls in a school for disabled teens. Finally, a game that puts “erotic”, “disabled”, and “teens” all in one package.

The name apparently translates as “Disability Girls”, more or less, so I suppose it’s exactly what it says on the box. I’m sure there’s a small group of weird men out there who are very happy now.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the game’s been put together by a bunch of 4channers who started a game development company called Four Leaf Studios.

Also unsurprisingly, despite the cast of girls being blind, deaf, a paraplegic amputee, and a burn victim, they all have perfectly perky breasts. Whew!

The game is free to download and play, but obviously only for over-18s and totally NSFW (although there’s an option to turn off the naughty bits, which I’m sure nobody will ever actually use).

You can get it here. Quick, nobody’s looking.

Actually, this game is extremely heart-warming. I’ve played through my “what-the-fuck” games, and this one is actually not too bad. Do you know how hard it is to find representation for something like this in the media? It’s honestly really good, and it handles the subject of disability really well. It shows that people are so much more than their disabilities.
