Remember when some guy who works for Namco Bandai said that if enough PC gamers petitioned for their very own version of Dark Souls, that… well, he didn’t actually say it would happen, he just sort of very vaguely implied it.
“There is always possibilities to have games adapted on PC and the good news is that Dark Souls is not a 100% typical Console game so the adaptation is possible,” wrote community manager and English second language speaker Tony Shoupinou on the company’s forums. “Now to make things happen, let’s say the demand has to be properly done. someone to make a successful petition?”
“Honestly, I think this is an interesting request and that it deserves to be pushed. Namco have no position for now on this topic: PC versions are considered for many games but as PC is rarely the lead platform for the games released by the company, making PC version very often depends on signs that could come from users or from market globally,” he added.
In response, PC gamers have started up a petition which – as of right now – has 44,473 signatures. You can sign the petition here – Dark Souls PC petition.
“PC gamers love unforgiving, hardcore games,” reads the petition blurb, automatically guaranteeing that all PC gamers will buy the game as long as it’s “sold at a reasonable price for a late port”. Which, as we all know, is exactly not how the industry works, but let’s see what happens.

Darks Souls PC possible if demand is “properly done”
Piracy on consoles is just as bad as pc… guess what game was in the top 10 most pirated games of 2011? Gears of War 3 :O Its easier to pirate a game on pc than it is for console, but that doesnt mean the piracy isnt there.
As for the difficulty of pc developing. Devs have been doing it for years havnt they? So now that its easier to dev for console that means that PC as a platform should be left behind in terms of game development? Keeping it in-line with what this article is about, we as pc gamers, now have to sign a petition in order to just get the devs to think about making a pc version of a rather brilliant console game? Thats pretty sucky IMO.
Just to put it out there, i own both a pc and a 360, but i only use my 360 for exclusives like halo and gears. if a pc version of a game gcomes out that is on console as well, i get that and play it with the wireless 360 controller for PC. Game is half the price of the console version and i play it exactly the same way, with the option of a mouse and keyboard.
When i see stuff like this, i think maybe razer are wrong, pc gaming isn’t dead…
But its dying.
