Rumour control: is this the Resident Evil 6 viral campaign?

18 January 2012

Capcom isn’t talking much about Resident Evil 6. In fact, aside from confirming that yes, it’s in development, Capcom hasn’t actually said anything about the game at all. So the website nohopeleft.com may or may not be a viral marketing teaser for a game nobody knows anything about – but it does look the part.

The website features a blog with a bunch of photos and videos, prominently showing the date 19.01.12 (that’s tomorrow!) and the text ‘No hope left”, with the letter “o” made to look somewhat like a biohazard symbol. Clever people will know, of course, that Resident Evil is called Biohazard in Japan. It’s a pretty tenuous link, it’s true, but it’s still a link.

The domain is registered to WEBFUSION LTD  – the same firm who registered insertedevil.com, a viral marketing website that’s confirmed to be associated with Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City. So there’s also that.

Whatever the website is about, I guess we just have to wait another 24 hours or so to find out. In the words of Albert Wesker, “You caaaan’t hiiiiide foreeeeeever.”
