What we’re playing this weekend (21-22 January 2012)

This weekend has been fully booked by a mates 21st, a flood that covered my garden in soil, and DIY tasks around the house. However if I can find some time between consuming copious amount of alcohol, clearing up dead plants, and painting my passage (not a euphemism), I’ll probably cram some Gran Turismo 5 in because my G27 makes the game awesome!

As mentioned last week, I have a huge backlog of games to get through – and with February and the onslaught of new games fast approaching, I’m almost guaranteed to break under the immense stress and pressure of having so many games to play. Thus, I will spend the weekend rocking back and forth in a dark corner, crying.

Or, I’ll load up Skyrim and stab someone in the face.

I’m still aimlessly wandering the cruel desert that is the January gaming drought, but in the distance I think I see a faint shimmer of hope.

Zack Zero is a rather fun-looking superhero platformer that’s just hit the PSN, so I might splash out on that while I continue to twiddle my thumbs for the release of Trine 2 on our antiquated version of the PSN store. I’m also keen for Scarygirl, a gorgeous platformer that’s already on XBLA and due to hit the PSN next week.

Assuming none of these are actually mirages, I reckon downloadable titles might be the only way forward until the gaming gods decide to rain down the February AAA goodness.

I feel like I’ve been neglecting my hobby of late, so this weekend I’m going to get stuck into some Anno 2070 and, following Quinton’s lead, stab some people in the face in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (Ubisoft DRM permitting).

Somehow, I’ve accidentally managed to book out most of the weekend with social events. I could fake my own death, maybe, and then I’d have more time to play the new Gears of War 3 maps. Otherwise it’s probably just a few minutes here and there of Machinarium on my iPad while I’m on the toilet.
