Minecraft 1.2 lets you tame kitties!

28 January 2012

Can haz kitties?

Well, when Minecraft 1.2 updates – yes you can. The update will introduce some wild ocelots, a type of jungle cat that will eat your face off given half the chance, which you can tame and breed – similar to the wolves from before.

They can be tamed through the strategic use of fish – that is to say, give them fish. They’ll then be less likely to eat your face off, and way more prone to jumping onto the couch and landing squarely on your crotch.

The 1.2 update will also add some new items, and make those skeletons a tad smarter – seeking out water when they’re on fire, and shade when they’re in the sunlight. And on fire. They may need to tweak the skeletons’ ‘stop, drop and roll’ functionality a bit.

Here’s the full work-in-progress snapshot:

  • New jungle-specific mob that can be tamed
  • Skeletons have new AI and a few new behaviors
  • Various minor bug fixes and changes
  • Added an experience item to creative mode
  • Added a flame item…
  • Updated language files

We’ll keep you posted on when the updates going live and the features that will be added.
