Mass Effect apps announced for iOS

8 February 2012

Ha, you thought Mass Effect 3 was just a PC and console game? Okay, technically it still is, but it’s also going to be supported by two iOS apps, Infiltrator and Datapad. In the war against the Reapers, every bit counts.

Infiltrator is a third-person shooter, featuring “”stunning graphics and authentic weapons and powers from the Mass Effect series”, and has players running missions around Cerberus bases, killing bad guys, rescuing good guys, and looking for clues about the corporation’s secret plans to build a Death Star (or something).

The iPad-exclusive Datapad tracks the Mass Effect 3 galaxy map, and lets the player deploy troops all over the universe to repel Reaper assaults. According to Kotaku, you’ll also be able to get messages from game characters.

“Hey Sheppykins, we’re out of milk on the Normandy. Won’t you be a sweetheart and drop by the Citadel and pick some up on your way through the Reaper blockade? Love youuuuu! xx, Thaneypoo.”

Both games will increase your Galactic Readiness score as part of Mass Effect 3’s Galaxy At War metagame. Boost your stats from the safety and comfort of coffee shops all over the planet! No launch date information has been confirmed yet.
