Kickstart Fever hits big
This is what happens when fans want something bad enough. Starting out with Notch offering to fund a new Psychonauts game, ‘kickstart’ fever hit off, with fans throwing money around to see the games they want, made without the need for publisher sign-off.

Diablo III is in the news again
Unsurprisingly, the Q1 release window for Diablo III is now a Q2 release window. Yeah, yeah – you can’t delay something that doesn’t have an official release date – but fans are eagerly awaiting this game, and any sort of news indicating they’ll wait longer, isn’t going to be accepted happily.

New legal battle emerges
Now that Mojang and Interplay are done playing in court with Bethesda, the gaming industry needs a new high-profile legal battle. Luckily Blizzard and Valve are set to fill that spot with tussles over DotA 2.

Shooter sequels for 2012
Next shooter sequel? Well Medal of Honour 2 is all but confirmed – and Activision are talking about their next game in the Call of Duty franchise, so it looks like it will be another good year for shooters – especially with Spec Ops The Line also showing up.

Rumour control
Ah yes, a couple of new buzzings – obviously the next gen of consoles can’t escape it – but more intriguingly, Rockstar are working on a new “open world” game, apparently – the same studio that made Red Dead Redemption is now hiring…hmmm.

Local boom, bloom and doom
Good news and bad news – as ever, locally it’s a mix. While Telkom upped local data caps, and the gaming industry (in terms of sales) has seen quite a boom – with more growth in general expected in years to come – we also heard about Luma Arcade closing their Joburg offices, which was very sad news, indeed.
