Amnesia sequel in the works

13 February 2012

Frictional Game’s Amnesia: The Dark Descent was met with critical acclaim when it nabbed two awards at the IGF, going on to a successful launch in 2010.

And now the creepy psychological horror title looks like it’s getting a sequel.

A teaser site, creatively called www.nextfrictionalgame.com has popped up, clearly displaying the Amnesia name on top of a very blurry image – with the words “Something is emerging…” hovering ominously below. Clicking through on the site takes you to a Google map of China.

If you want to be really sleuthy about it, checking out the page’s source code reveals this set of meta-data:

“3D game, frictional games, advanced physics, survivial horror, action adventure, first person, horror, scary, HPL, work in progress, upcoming game, next frictional game, game development”

As well as this friendly explanation:

“Welcome to the next frictional game site, a site with information about our game projects in development. We use this site to post content about a project in development, during the period it does not have a final name decided.”

So there you have it – Frictional Games are making a new 3D horror game, linked to Amnesia, and more than likely taking place in China. Get ready to be horrified all over again.
