Don’t write off LA Noire 2 yet, says Rockstar

14 February 2012

Okay, so maybe the game wasn’t as huge a success as expected, and so, okay, one of the development studios went bang shortly after its launch following months of drama, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be an LA Noire sequel.

In a recent Q&A session with fans, Rockstar admitted there was some small chance that the would-be detect-’em’up series might get another turn.

“… don’t count out the possibility of a new game in the L.A. Noire franchise in the future. We simply have not decided anything. We’re all very pleased with how that game turned out and are considering what the future may hold for L.A. Noire as a series. We don’t always rush to make sequels, but that does not mean we won’t get to them eventually — see Max and Red Dead for evidence of that — we have so many games we want to make and the issue is always one of bandwidth and timing.”

Back in November 2011, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two said in an investor call that they “see LA Noire as a powerful new franchise”, so there’s also that. My case notes indicate there are four undiscovered clues remaining, though.
