Killzone 2 leaked on eBay

25 January 2009

On Saturday January 17, ps3center.com reported that a review copy and press pack of the much hyped “Killzone 2” for Play Station 3 was put on eBay.

The culprit, an unidentified journalist, placed their press pack on eBay in a bid to take advantage of the huge hype that surrounds the game.

The PS3 exclusive first-person shooter is scheduled for release on February 27. Would-be buyers looking to get their hands on the early leak drove the price up to £400 (R5900) before eBay supposedly shut the auction down.It is against eBay’s Terms of Service to sell unfinished software.

Just hours later, the game re-appeared on eBay under a different username. However, this time, the seller opted for the “buy now” option, and was able to make the sale before anyone could stop it. The seller managed to get £400 for the game.

Ps3center reported that the same user had also sold a Resistance 2 press kit.

Sony did not comment on the incident, however, it stands to reason that the media coverage that the leak earned may be far more valuable than potential loss of a single sale.
